Thomas Partey is aiming to stay fit and maintain a consecutive run of games for Arsenal. The Ghanaian says the best is yet to come from him.

Thomas Partey has shown glimpses of brilliance in an Arsenal jersey but consistency has been far from him.

Well known for his impressive fitness levels, it’s been a different story for the Ghanaian since he joined the Gunners from Atletico Madrid last summer.

Recurring injuries from time to time means Partey has been in and out of the Arsenal squad and has been unable to nail down a first-team spot.

On a good day, the 27-year-old is perhaps one of the best midfield names Mikel Arteta can call upon.

The midfielder recently returned from injury and says he is aiming to get to full fitness soon enough.

The jury is still out on Partey to live up to his reputation, and the midfielder is well aware, saying his best is yet to come.

“It was a difficult moment to get used to how the team plays and I think the injuries are part of the adaptation,” he said to the club’s website.

“I think people have their own opinion, but it depends on me and how I adapt to the situation that I’m in. It is part of the game, you never know when you’ll get injured. I do all my work, I try to make sure I’m fit to play any game.”

“I had a few games, against Man United and against Wolves [where I was 100 per cent], and I was able to show what I can do. Due to less games and less training, I have to keep working and have to keep trying to get back to that level of performance.”

Partey concluded: “I think this is just the start. I’m starting to get used to how my mates play, how the Premier League goes and with time everything will be good. I will do my best and will do my work to try to make sure I will be at my best.”
