Mason Greenwood continues to suffer more criticism and the latest comes after he was caught in a video apparently inhaling nitrous oxide.
It’s been a bad couple weeks for Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood.
The 18-year-old ended last season in a promising note and looked to start this season in good form.
In fact, it got better when Greenwood got his first England call up and United also handed him the no.7 jersey.
Alas, his off the pitch shenanigans brought him under the radar for the wrong reasons.
Greenwood and Foden had a moment of shame after they were sent home on national duty for the Three Lions. It appears the young pair got too excited and brought some Icelandic girls to the team hotel.
Both players already apologized for their acts.
Barley less than a week after, the United man is having to apologize for yet another unruly act.
In a video released by the Sun, Greenwood was seen filling a balloon apparently with nitrous oxide from a canister before inhaling.
It is in no way illegal but has numerous health risks. Although this happened weeks before the England team incident, the United youngster has had to apologize yet again.
“I have now been made aware of the health risks associated with this practice and accept that even trying it, as shown in these historical pictures, was poor judgement on my part. I strongly urge others not to follow my example,” Greenwood said in a statement as quoted by Goal.
“As an 18-year-old I am learning all the time, however, this week I have also learned that I will be judged to a higher standard because of my career as a footballer and I must respect that in future. I am determined to repay the faith shown in me by my manager and coaches.”
Greenwood now faces the tough task of winning back the trust of Ole Solskjaer. The United boss is reportedly disappointed in the youngster after his recent escapades.
So far, the 18-year-old has escaped any punishment from country and club.
