Greenwood has issued an apology for his irresponsible actions that led to him being dropped from the England national team.

England recorded a narrow yet hard-fought win against Iceland last week and two of their players went perhaps a little too much overboard with their celebrations.

Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden invited two local girls over in their hotel rooms, a model named Nadia Sif Lindal Gunnarsdottir and a law student named Lara Clausen, as per reports.

The hotel was not exclusive to the England team, and the pair compromised the health of the other inhabitant along with their teammates’ with their actions.

Subsequently, the Manchester United attacker and the Manchester City playmaker were sent home by Gareth Southgate as the FA launched an investigation.

In a statement made on Man United’s official website, Greenwood has now expressed regret over his poor judgment in Reykjavik.

“Having now had the chance to reflect on what’s happened, I can only apologize to everyone for the embarrassment I have caused,” said the 18-year old.

“It was irresponsible of me to break the COVID-19 protocols which are in place to protect players, staff, and the public.

“I promise my family, the fans, Manchester United, and England that this is a lesson I will learn from.”
