After a new victory against Hertha Berlin, it sure does look like Borussia Dortmund already has Erling Haaland’s replacement if he leaves.
Finding Erling Haaland’s replacement has never been a problem for Borussia Dortmund. The German club is famous for having the most impressive scouting system in European football. For more than a decade, they always had some of the most exciting young players the market has to offer. Perhaps today they have an overabundance of players with the likes of Erling Haaland, Julian Brandt, Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham, or Gio Reyna.
But we are convinced that the ideal replacement for the time the Norwegian striker inevitably leaves is a home-grown product. We are of course talking about Youssoufa Moukoko. The 16-year-old striker who keeps breaking European records at his tender age. Today, he scored an incredible solo goal for Dortmund that gave his side a valuable 2-0 victory against Hertha Berlin.
Moukoko’s records in German football.
With his goal, the Cameroon striker is the youngest player in Bundesliga’s history to reach three goals as a professional. He adds that record to the already existing list of impressive achievements. Just a day after turning 16, he became the youngest-ever Bundesliga debutant. Seventeen days later, he became the youngest-ever Champions League debutant.
Ten days after that, he became the youngest ever Bundesliga goal-scorer. If you stop to think about it for a minute, Erling Haaland followed a similar path after making his professional debut. This is the reason Michael Zorc shouldn’t be too worried about selling Erling Haaland to the highest bidder. As long as they can keep producing or finding these young talents, there’s no reason for any concern about the future.
