Inter Milan have put Christian Eriksen up for sale after just six months at the club, according to Mario Sconcerti.

Eriksen joined Inter from Tottenham back in January, penning a four-and-a-half-year deal worth €10million per season.

The 28-year-old arrived carrying the reputation of one of Europe’s finest playmakers. But, the Dane did too little to live up to his household name.

On the contrary, he has endured an utterly underwhelming start to his life in Serie A.

A modest output of one goal and two assists registered in 17 league matches for Inter made the Italian giants consider offloading their marquee January signing already in the summer.

“Inter have put Eriksen on the transfer market. It is not news, it is my opinion that comes as a result of the latest choices of the club,” says Italian journalist Sconcerti [via CalcioMercato].

“For example, Nainggolan. If he returns, he joins Vidal and Gagliardini, three will be playing for a single role, four if you include Eriksen. At the moment, it is surprising that Inter have only one out of three players, Barella.

“If Vidal comes, Sensi becomes his reserve and the regista’s, while Gagliardini would become Barella’s reserve. Nainggolan and Eriksen are still advancing, not to mention Vecino (whom I would keep) and the various Dalbert or Joao Mario who will leave.

“Plus Brozovic, until six months ago, considered the best regista in Italy, and today he is reduced to waste paper.”

Eriksen has done virtually nothing to prove he’s not become a washout. As such, Chelsea swiftly turned down the chance of taking him on board in return for letting N’Golo Kante go in the opposite direction.

Indeed, the Nerazzurri tried to include the ex-Ajax man in a swap deal to take the World Cup winner to the Giuseppe Meazza.

However, Eriksen’s disappointing performances under Antonio Conte has deterred the Blues from accepting such a proposal.

With the playmaker now stuck in a limbo, Sconcerti also believes a loan remains a viable solution.

“In a market where it is difficult to sell, Eriksen is instead more expendable than the others on the international market. Also on loan, as he has a high salary.”
