Christian Eriksen joined Inter Milan to continue his career’s progress but little did he knew the adversity that awaited him.

Tottenham begrudgingly allowed Christian Eriksen to leave. The playmaker wanted a new challenge and Antonio Conte gave him the perfect project.

Little did the Dane knew how the following weeks would unfold. Eriksen has explained his ordeal in Milan during the coronavirus lockdown. He was training on his own at Inter Milan’s complex alongside a chef and members of the staff.

The training was not an easy task as well. The 28-year-old was running in the basement car park. His routine also saw him getting stopped by the police on his way to the supermarket.

Prior to that, Eriksen was contemplating crashing on Romelu Lukaku or Ashly Young’s sofa in the lockdown. He thought against that given the players’ own families and the concerns in the tumultuous times.

“[During part of lockdown] I ended up staying at the club’s training structure with a chef and five members of staff who chose to quarantine themselves in order to protect their families,” Daily Mail quoted Eriksen.

“I thought of talking to Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Young, but they already had families to look after, and 14 days sleeping on someone’s sofa is too long.’

“Later in the year, I was running around the car park basement and calculated I can run 35 meters, then have to take a turn and run 35 meters back.

“[When I tried to go to the supermarket], police stopped me and in my rather bad Italian I had to explain what I was doing, where I was going and why I was out of the house.”

After a slow start, Eriksen earned his place in Conte’s plans. He featured regularly in the Nerazzurri’s ascent in Serie A and was prominent in their Europa League journey.
