Juventus had the first of two Coppa Italia semifinal matches against Inter Milan this evening. The first leg took place at Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in the city of Milano, a place Ronaldo loves playing. Cristiano was on point this evening after more than ten days without scoring a single goal. During the first half, we saw Antonio Conte’s men dominating with ball possession. They even scored the opening goal after a collective effort that Lautaro Martinez finished early in the game.
But Cristiano only needs one chance to get the vibe he needs in order to find that motivation. Ashley Young gave him that chance by committing a penalty on Juan Cuadrado that Cristiano transformed into the equalizer. After that, Ronaldo started feeling more comfortable on the pitch. Bastoni felt the pressure from the star in a defensive mistake that transformed into Cristiano’s second goal of the evening before the break.

After the break, the game became more defensive and difficult for all offensive players. This included Cristiano Ronaldo, who didn’t have an easy time against the Inter defenders. Thinking about the next two weeks’ worth of matches, Andrea Pirlo made a decision Ronaldo didn’t like.
He took the star off the pitch with 20 minutes on the clock in order to protect the result. In Pirlo’s view, Cristiano needs to rest with many important matches ahead. But the star wasn’t happy about the decision from his manager. In the end, the gaffer made the right choices as the Bianconeri won the first leg of this Coppa Italia semifinal.
