Saul Niguez likes to believe that attracting interest from European elites is proof of his hard work at Atletico Madrid paying off.

Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez further strengthened the claim of being one of the finest midfielders in world football at present with his remarkable performances last season.

The Spaniard was central to his side’s deep run in the Champions League as well as to their third-place finish behind Real Madrid and FC Barcelona in the La Liga table.

The sound of his stunts reached well beyond the borders as he earned applauds from Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand.

Ferdinand listed the 25-year old midfielder’s qualities while backing Man United in their pursuit of Saul. The club were already linked with his signing at the time as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked to add creativity in his team in the middle of the park.

However, the rumors started evaporating ever since the pandemic. Also, the transfer now looks highly unlikely now that Donny van de Beek has been added to Solskjaer’s ranks.

Quizzed by Marca on how he reacted to rumors linking him with a move to Old Trafford, Saul responded: “Well honestly very well.

“I am very flattered that a club like Manchester United or other teams that ask about me take me into consideration, for me it is very positive.

On being praised by Ferdinand, he added: “And that strong people in those clubs speak well of you means that I am doing things well at Atletico Madrid.”
