James Rodriguez plans to bring his ‘A-game’ and ‘winning mentality’ to instill the belief that silverware is possible for Everton.

Everton completed their €25m capture of James from Real Madrid on Monday night. The Colombian has signed a two-year contract, with the club retaining an option for a third season.

The 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner’s arrival is widely seen as a huge coup for the Blues. Not only does his talent rank on par with some of the best players on the planet, but he’s won big throughout his career.

One interesting fact for Everton supporters is that James has won at least one trophy with every club he’s played with expect Monaco, where he spent one season in 2013/14.

“I’m a winner… a real winner. I like to win things and I’m convinced we can have a great season,” the attacking midfielder told Everton TV.

“I know we have a very talented squad, full of top players, and, I think, with the additions, we’re making during this transfer window, it’s going to make us even stronger.”

The 29-year-old also won the Champions League, UEFA Supercup, FIFA Club World Cup with Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid. The pair briefly reunited at Bayern Munich in 2017 as well.

James added: “Carlo Ancelotti was very keen to bring me here and has worked hard to bring that about.

“Now it is down to me to perform well, to play well, to bring my A-game to this club and bring that winning mentality, to make sure everyone in the Club believes we can win trophies.

“That is what we will be striving for.”
