The former Manchester United striker tips a bright future for his Nigeria teammate and expects him to end up in the Premier League.

Odion Ighalo has predicted that Victor Osimhen’s hunger will take him to the Premier League and make him the English league’s best goalscorer.

The 22-year-old is establishing a reputation as one of the most deadly strikers around. With nine goals in 13 games across all competitions, including five Serie A goals, his progress at Napoli has captured a lot of interest and praise recently.

Now Ighalo has lifted the lid on how pleased he is to see his former understudy step into the spotlight as the main man for club and country.

What did Ighalo say?

“I’m very happy and I’m proud of Victor, I do communicate with him every time, I keep encouraging him that he’s doing so well, he should keep being humble, keep working harder,” the 32-year-old told King Ekong’s YouTube channel.

“He has not achieved anything yet because I know in two to three years’ time this guy will be playing in the Premier League and going to be the best scorer because I can see his hunger.”

Ighalo added: “Even when we were in the Cup [2019 AFCON] he was a bit frustrated he was not playing, he’s not happy.

“I told him Victor your time will come, I told him I’m leaving you are the one that is going to take over this number 9 shirt if you believe in yourself and you work hard, I can see your potential and I’m so happy and glad that he’s doing that.”
