Liverpool have been handed another massive blow following news that captain Jordan Henderson could be out for a while.

It continues to get worse for Liverpool who have struggled with injuries of late. The latest addition to the treatment table is Jordan Henderson who could be facing up to three months on the sidelines.

The 30-year-old was substituted just half an hour into the Merseyside derby. After the game, Jurgen Klopp admitted the injury was not good.

Henderson is reported to have sustained a grade-two tear, and he will miss six weeks of action at the very least.

Moving further, it could take some time before the Liverpool captain would be fit enough to get back on the pitch.

According to The Sun, Henderson is now a doubt for Euro 2020 in the summer.

Henderson is set to undergo a scan on Wednesday to determine the severity of his injury and whether he will require surgery.

If there are no complications, the Reds’ skipper may only miss a total of six matches for his club side, as well as the international break in March.

If all things go well, he could even be back in time for the quarter-finals of the Champions League at the beginning of April. That is in the event that Liverpool see off their 2-0 lead over RB Leipzig from the first leg.

It continues a trying period for Liverpool where virtually all of their starting XI has missed out at one point due to injury.
