Pep Guardiola revealed how one of Manchester City’s biggest stars was emotionally affected by the recent passing of Diego Maradona.

Diego Maradona left an imprint on every single player he met but one of Manchester City’s biggest stars shares a unique connection with him. We are talking about Sergio Aguero, who is the Citizens’ all-time top scorer and was deeply affected by Maradona’s death. To those who are not aware, ‘Kun’ had a son with Gianinna Maradona. We are talking about one of Diego’s daughter. His name is Benjamin Aguero Maradona and he is past the age of 10.

For this connection they share, Sergio Aguero is especially affected by the idol’s passing. There is nothing that will hurt Benjamin more than his grandfather’s death and it will naturally affect Aguero. Manager Pep Guardiola revealed how ‘Kun’ is doing after the sad news and when we can expect him back from his injuries.

Guardiola’s explanation about Aguero’s loss.

During a press conference ahead of this weekend’s Premier League match against Burnley, Pep revealed the following to the Independent: “Of course it’s difficult for me to talk about his feelings. I saw him good but the impact on the day of the game against Olympiacos was hard, especially for his son. Of course it was tough, that’s normal. He knew Maradona quite well and, for his son, he was his grandfather. It is a sad situation, unfortunately, for his family but he’s OK.”

“Sergio is going to give us good moments this season. He is still not in his best condition but we cannot forget how long his injury was. Then he came back and was injured again. In the middle of the season he is a guy who needs to be so sharp to score goals in the box but we don’t have doubts. He needs a little time to get it and, in training and with the minutes, he will. Then he will still have seven months ahead to show it.”
