A compatriot of Ruben Dias who worked with him during his budding career stages has emphasized the defender’s leadership skills.
Manchester City’s most recent Premier League outing magnified the extent of their defensive issues, something they have been struggling since the last season.
The Sky Blues let in five goals against Leicester City, the number of goals never has any side managed by Pep Guardiola conceded ever before.
Vincent Kompany, a rock in their backline for 11 years, bode farewell to the club last year and Man City are still quite visibly missing their former skipper.
Aymeric Laporte and John Stones, among others, were brought in on big-money moves, but none of them have provided as much stability to the team’s defense as did Kompany.
Guardiola and co. have yet again dipped in the transfer market and signed Ruben Dias, who will become a Citizen very soon.
A former coach of Dias, Joao Tralhao, suggests he would most probably be able to shoulder the responsibility that Kompany once did quite efficiently.
He told Sky Sports of Dias: “He likes to lead. He knows how to lead. You will see that at City once he is adapted.
“He will lead everything. I mean that in a good way. He will be the coach’s voice. A player who can help the team do their tasks correctly.
“He will not just be a shouting leader, showing it with that behavior, pushing players by saying, ‘Come on, come on’. As well as that, he will be the one who actually leads the tasks. Telling them how they should organize in terms of the coach’s idea. He can do both.”
