The Milan striker believes Kylian Mbappe needs to display improved performances for PSG.

Kylian Mbappe has started the new season in great style. The Frenchman has continued his role as a crucial player for PSG as they lead the Ligue 1 table.

However, Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes this is not the best Mbappe can do.

“I love him but he doesn’t do enough,” Ibrahimovic told Telefoot. “He can become so good if he learns to hurt himself. He needs to get a taste for blood, walk on fire.

“Surround yourself with those who say you aren’t good enough & you will be better.”

Real Madrid were close to signing Mbappe this summer, but the 22-year-old ended up staying at Parc des Prince. He has refused PSG’s offers for a contract extension, intensifying speculations around his potential departure in the winter.

Ibrahimovic played for PSG between 2012 and 2016, winning four consecutive league titles. The Swedish striker believes that PSG side was stronger than the current one under Mauricio Pochettino.

Asked whether he thinks PSG have a better team now, the 40-year-old responded: “No. Because we were a team. Today, this is not a team. Maybe later on. I believe in this team, but they are not the best.”

PSG will continue their Champions League campaign with a match against RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
