For all of his quality and efficiency in front of goal, Harry Kane is yet to boast of any form of silverware in his time at Tottenham.
A report has claimed Harry Kane might genuinely consider a move away from Tottenham this summer. This is according to the reputable journalist David Ornstein.
The 27-year-old is a graduate of the youth academy at Spurs and has established himself as one of the world’s best strikers during his time in north London.
However, one major letdown in his career is the fact that Kane is yet to win a major trophy even though he is at his peak.
The England captain has played an influential role in attack for Jose Mourinho’s side this season, scoring 26 goals and creating another 16 from 39 appearances in all competitions.
Kane has been linked with an exit from Spurs since the beginning of the season. The likes of Manchester City and Manchester United have been mentioned as services in recent months.
Both clubs are in the market for a new striker. City are on the lookout to replace the aging Sergio Aguero. Elsewhere, the Red Devils are weighing up their options ahead of Edinson Cavani’s likely departure at the end of the season.
Tottenham’s embarrassing Europa League exit at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb in midweek marking another missed opportunity to end the club’s 13-year wait for major honors.
In the wake of Thursday’s disappointment, it has been claimed that Kane is determined to leave Spurs at the end of the season in search of success with another club.
Ornstein told Sky Sports News on Sunday that the prolific forward is keen to move on, but will likely be forced to stay for at least another year with Levy unwilling to consider the prospect of his departure. Spurs will only sanction a move if an exceptional fee comes their way.
“I speak to a lot of people in football, and the consensus is that he would like to leave Tottenham,” said Ornstein.
“But he can’t say that publicly, he’s the captain. He’s very committed while he’s at the club, but he wants to go and win trophies.
“He’s said that publicly, he’s made it incredibly clear that he wants to be winning multiple trophies, the biggest trophies in football, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be able to do that at Tottenham. I think he would be open to a transfer.
“However, that’s incredibly unlikely because Daniel Levy would want an astonishingly high figure for him.
“There were reports today of well in excess of £120million just for Daniel Levy to even consider letting him go, and of course Kane is under contract until 2024.”
