A ‘happy’ Paul Pogba reportedly expects to begin contract talks with Manchester United once their Europa League campaign ends.

While Pogba’s current deal expires in June 2021, Manchester United have an option to extend it by a further 12 months. Thus, they remained calm about the situation.

Considering the 27-year-old wanted to leave last summer, and that both Real Madrid and Juventus were on his case, United’s relaxed attitude is rather surprising.

Although it now appears Pogba has reconsidered and plans to put pen-to-paper on a new contract.

The midfielder hasn’t had the best seasons, but his impressive form since returning from injury will likely give United even more incentives to tie him down to a new deal.

“Pogba is happy at United and he’s expecting them to open contract talks once their Europa League campaign is over,” reported Sky Sports correspondent Dharmesh Sheth.

“His current deal runs out next summer but United always insert this year option so they don’t get caught out with free transfers.

“It should be said United are in a better position to negotiate with Pogba and the returning Dean Henderson, as it stands from Sheffield United, following the departure of Alexis Sanchez and all of the money his wages have now freed.

“There appears to be a willingness from all parties to get around the table as far as Pogba is concerned.”
