A spell on the sidelines awaits for the prolific Norwegian marksmen ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s latest fixture in the Bundesliga.

Erling Haaland has vowed to return better than ever after Borussia Dortmund confirmed the extent of his injury.

In a press conference ahead of the club’s Bundesliga clash with Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday, Marco Rose told reporters that Haaland is facing up to a ‘few weeks’ out of action.

“Erling Haaland will not play and will be absent for a few weeks with a hip flexor injury,” the Dortmund manager said.

The 21-year-old, who only recently returned from a muscle problem, has a hip flexor injury. Dortmund have not issued a potential return date yet, but Haaland is in an upbeat mood all the same.

The striker posted on Twitter: “Time to focus on my recovery, I’ll be back stronger.”

Rose also confirmed that right-back Thomas Meunier won’t be available this weekend, and that left-back Nico Schulz has a torn muscle fiber.

Dortmund are currently in second place in the Bundesliga table and just one point behind leaders Bayern Munich.
