The Man City boss has reacted to the images showing two of his first-team starters at a nightclub.

Manchester City crushed Leeds United 7-0 last week, displaying one of their best performances of the season. After the game, photos of Jack Grealish and Phil Foden came out that showed them at a nightclub.

After the news broke out, Guardiola reportedly fined both players for their behaviour. The Man City boss also dropped the pair for his side’s league game against Newcastle, which they comfortably won 4-0.

Asked about his decision to exclude the pair from his lineup, the Man City coach responded (via Marca):

“It was not rotation. I decided on this team because they deserved to play today, these guys and not the other ones,

“At Christmas time I pay a lot of attention to behaviour on and off the pitch. And when off the pitch is not proper, they are not going to play.

“So we have to be focused all the time because of distractions at Christmas time and everything that happens – you have to still be focused.”

The victory against Newcastle ensured Man City would end the year on top of the Premier League table. Their closest rivals, Liverpool and Chelsea, both points in their respective draws against Chelsea and Wolves.

The Citizens will face Leicester City in their next league game on Sunday before meeting Brentford three days later.
