Having reinforced his defense in the summer, the Sky Blues boss is expected to strengthen his attack in the current transfer window.

Pep Guardiola has made it clear that Manchester City will be making no new signings in the January transfer window.

Man City have been quite successful in imposing themselves in matches lately after being forced to take a few undesirable results early in the Premier League season.

Recording five league wins on the bounce, they have significantly closed the gap from the top of the table, sitting at second and just two points adrift of leaders Manchester United with a game in hand.

Much of the Sky Blues’ success this term can be credited to their rock-solid defense. Summer signing Ruben Dias has formed a strong partnership with the revitalized John Stones at the back, and the pair have made sure that the team boast the best defensive record in the Premier League.

Attack, however, remains a weakness for them. Sergio Aguero continues to struggle for fitness while Gabriel Jesus has also missed matches due to COVID-19.

17-year-old Liam Delap has been handed chances while Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, and Ferran Torres have also been utilized as makeshift strikers.

Despite the obvious need for fresh firepower in the team, however, Man City will refrain from making new additions this month.

“We will not sign any deal during the winter transfer market,” Guardiola told beIN Sports, via Goal.

“We did not discuss this, but we will end the season with the players that we have now.”
