Guardiola gave a rather worrying update on De Bruyne’s injury after Manchester City’s FA Cup defeat to Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola has admitted Kevin De Bruyne’s injury “doesn’t look good” after Manchester City’s FA Cup semi-final exit.

De Bruyne left the pitch just three minutes into the second-half following a tussle with Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, with what appeared to be an ankle injury.

While there was no contact between the players, De Bruyne could not continue after losing possession. Therefore, Guardiola replaced him with Phil Foden and now faces an anxious wait for updates.

“It doesn’t look good, he has pain,” the City manager told the BBC on De Bruyne’s injury on Saturday evening.

“We will see. Tomorrow he will have a test.”

Within seven minutes of De Bruyne’s departure, Hakim Ziyech scored the decisive goal to bag Chelsea a 1-0 win at Wembley.

The result ended City’s quadruple hopes for the season. They can, however, still claim a treble in the Premier League, EFL Cup, and Champions League glory.

The Citizens return to action on Wednesday for a trip to Aston Villa in the Premier League. Another visit to Wembley then awaits next Sunday for the EFL Cup final against Tottenham.
