Pep Guardiola cut a dejected figure as Manchester City failed to win for the second Premier League game in succession.

Guardiola was visibly frustrated as his City side were held to a 1-1 stalemate by West Brom at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

Coming off the back of a derby draw with United, many expected the Citizens to stroll past a struggling West Brom with only one win all season.

It seemed to be going well for City who started the game lively and deservedly took the lead with Gundogan in the 29th minute. However, the lead will only last 13 minutes after a deflected effort from Semi Ajayi crept past Ederson to count for a Ruben Dias own goal.

Guardiola saw his side dominate over 70% of possession and take up to 20 shots on the evening but resolute defending from West Brom and a string of saves from Sam Johnstone meant the game ended all square.

The frustrations of the City boss was compounded when he was visibly enraged with fourth official Anthony Taylor for the number of minutes given towards the end of the game.

Speaking after the game, Guardiola claimed his side should have won and admitted it’s ‘two points lost’.

“You have to win these games and we could not do it,” he said to the club’s website.

“We had the chances, but unfortunately we were not able to score goals, especially in the last four or five actions that we had.”

“That is the reality. We are able to control a lot. We are conceding minimum [chances].”

“[There was] one good save from Ederson and the deflected goal, but no more than this.”

“We were better in every department. We are creating, but we cannot do it.”

With that result, Guardiola saw his side miss out on a chance to close on the top spots as they remain in sixth place; five points off the top.
