As Manchester City gets stronger in the Premier League, Pep Guardiola still confirmed he can’t wait to have one of his biggest stars back in action.
Manchester City needs all the stars they can get during the current season, especially with Pep Guardiola’s need of firepower. Just last season, the Catalan manager struggled to find a proper balance between attack and defense with several defensive injuries. As the current campaign keeps going, Pep finds himself with the exact opposite problem. In the current year, the Citizens lack offensive players to give the squad the goals they need in order to be more dominant.
Defensively, they are currently amongst the best clubs in English football but they still need that perfect balance. One of the players they need has been injured for the better part of the last two seasons. However, he is always reliable on the attack when he is healthy. We are talking about Sergio Aguero, the club’s all-time leading goal-scorer.
Guardiola wants Aguero back ASAP.
As he recovers from the latest injury issue, Pep Guardiola revealed the following about Sergio Aguero: “We miss him,” he said via BBC Sport. “The numbers speak for themselves. He is the best striker in our history. We need Aguero. Sergio is a player who can create for himself and win a game by himself but he has not been with us for a long time,” Guardiola added.
“When we didn’t have him we could have started complaining but we did completely the opposite. We want him back as soon as possible. But at the same time, we have to go forward and we have done that because of the quality and skills that we have.”
As of right now, Sergio Aguero is still isolating from a Covid-19 positive test but he will return when the period is passed. Meanwhile, he will miss tomorrow’s Premier League match against Aston Villa.
