Ahead of Manchester City’s trip to Brighton, Pep Guardiola confirmed one of his players has to isolate himself for the next ten days. You guessed it!

Covid-19 is still taking a toll on everybody around European football, this time Pep Guardiola confirmed another issue at Manchester City. Ahead of the Citizens’ trip to Brighton & Hove Albion, the manager was questioned about a specific player’s absence in the squad. Sergio Aguero was just coming out of a long period of injury and he was slowly starting to return.

But he wasn’t part of the trip on Tuesday and the press started asking questions. Initially, they believed he picked up an injury but the problem was related to something else. As it turns out, ‘Kun’ was in very close contact with a person who just tested positive for Covid-19. The club needs to follow the protocols established by the government and made decisions regarding Aguero.

Guardiola confirmed the problem today.

Pep confirmed that Aguero is already in self-isolation after getting in close contact with a Covid-19 positive case. The player will remain at his home for the next 10 days and hope he didn’t get infected while he keeps testing himself. This is another blow for a player who has only played 9 matches this season due to various health problems.

“Unfortunately he was in contact more than usual with one person who is positive,” he said via Manchester Evening News. “He must isolate for a few days. I don’t know exactly because he has been tested like all of us six times in the last 10-15 days so it is negative. Today I think he was negative too but the protocols says in some cases isolate, and in other cases we still play football. He was not able to play today.”
