Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud says he was surprised to see reports linking him with a move to Juventus.
Olivier Giroud says he is a Chelsea player and remains focused with the club only.
Over the past 24 hours, reports claimed the Frenchman could be on his way to Juventus.
The general consensus was that Juve had difficulties landing Suarez and set their sights on Giroud as their alternative.
As at Thursday evening, a report even claimed the Chelsea man had thrashed out personal terms with the Bianconeri. It was claimed the deal could be done for €5m and that the striker had already agreed a two-year contract worth €4.5m per season.
In a time where rumors are quick to make the rounds, Giroud has come out to dismiss any reports linking him with an exit from Chelsea.
“I was surprised when I received messages from friends talking about the Juventus rumour,” he told Telefoot today, as reported by Get French Football News.
“It is a long way off the truth. I am a Chelsea player and I feel good here. I didn’t have a great end to last season just to leave again without showing a bit of faith.”
Giroud still has a year left on his current Chelsea deal and only just extended in May.
The Frenchman faces a tough battle for game-time with the arrival of Timo Werner from Leipzig.
Regardless, Giroud is up to the task and ready to battle for his place under Frank Lampard.
