The in-form Blues striker has attracted interest from Serie A champions Juventus, who hope to sign him for a little extra firepower.

Interest from Juventus flatters Olivier Giroud, but the striker is set to stay at Chelsea in January and could prolong his stay at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old has been in sublime form since the last international break. In nine games across all competitions, he has scored eight goals to help bag Chelsea crucial points. And his absence on Sunday coincided with the club losing 3-1 to Manchester City, as Timo Werner failed to find the back of the net as the starting center-forward.

The former Arsenal star’s brilliance, however, hasn’t gone unnoticed. Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo recently admitted he needs another striker and added Giroud would be a ‘handy’ addition, instigating a rumored January approach.

But Goal claim Giroud has no plans to leave London this month. He is intent on seeing out the final six months of his contract and recently teased there is an option to extend his existing deal by another 12 months.

“The ambition is to win something with Chelsea this season,” Giroud told Le Dauphine Libere.

“The rest of my career, in the short term, I see it at Chelsea. Now we know that things are going very quickly in football, for good and bad [reasons]. I want to keep a cool head and concentrate on the pitch.

“My contract at Chelsea will end in June, even though I have the option to stay for another year. We will discuss it at the end of the year.”

Chelsea, on the other hand, are reportedly keen to keep Giroud. The Blues value his leadership and ranking among the squad, although the Frenchman needs more regular football. He has only started four times in the Premier League, which isn’t ideal for his hopes of representing France at the upcoming European championship in the summer.
