Olivier Giroud has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Juventus ahead of his move from Chelsea.
Giroud was restricted to playing second fiddle to Tammy Abraham last season. But, despite featuring just 18 times in the Premier League back in 2019/20, the 33-year-old racked up eight goals.
With the arrival of Timo Werner, the French striker faces the likely prospect of falling further down the pecking order.
Giroud has only recently signed a contract extension at Stamford Bridge. However, Frank Lampard is open to selling his second-choice forward after spending big this summer.
According to Goal, the Allianz Stadium is Giroud’s next destination after Juventus agreed on a two-year deal with the ex-Montpellier man.
Perennial Serie A champions are now expected to seal an agreement with Chelsea on the basis of £5million.
If everything goes as planned, Giroud will arrive in Turin to provide a back-up option for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Andrea Pirlo is currently short of reliable options for a central forward role after casting off Gonzalo Higuain.
After being deemed surplus to requirements by the new boss, the Argentinean has struck an agreement with Inter Miami.
The 32-year-old has already boarded in a plane to the United States and will soon put pen to paper on a two-year contract with David Beckham’s franchise.
Giroud will, therefore, jump into Higuain’s shoes next season.
