Mason Greenwood has all the skill to handle the iconic No.11 shirt at Manchester United, says its legendary former owner Ryan Giggs.
After an impressive season with Manchester United, there is much expectation from Mason Greenwood.
The teenager scored a laudable 17 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils last season.
Following his performances, he was handed the iconic no.11 shirt for United ahead of the new season.
Lots of famous players to star for the Red Devils have worn that jersey, with the most decorated of all being Ryan Giggs.
Greenwood has recently been in the headlines for the wrong reasons but Giggs has backed the youngster to shine and rise above the recent criticism.
“He’s nearly already scored more goals than I did, so there’s no pressure in that respect,” Giggs told the Sun.
“But no, I don’t think he’ll feel the pressure of the number.”
“He’s a brilliant player, who I don’t think he even looks like scoring every game — I think he’s going to score two every game, he’s that much of a threat.”
“He’s been playing off the right — eventually, I think he will go as a centre-forward.”
“But he needs to go again. Opposition will be aware of him and they’ll be trying to stop him.”
Greenwood now faces the tough task of winning back the trust of Ole Solskjaer. The United boss is reportedly disappointed in the youngster after his recent escapade.
So far, the 18-year-old has escaped any punishment from country and club.
