It’s obvious Steven Gerrard would want to become Liverpool’s manager someday, he finally opened up about his real possibilities.

Steven Gerrard’s story with Liverpool is one of the most incredible in recent years. His run with the Reds can be compared to other one-club players who came before and after him. Totti with AS Roma, Messi with Barcelona, Gerrard with Liverpool. When you think about the epitome of a Red, Stevie ranks at the very top without question. This is the reason everybody at Liverpool is kind of expecting him to take over the squad in the future.

However, Jurgen Klopp is currently enjoying one of the club’s most successful periods. Replacing the German manager might be more complicated than anticipated. Gerrard acknowledged this in a recent interview with The Athletic. He knows that life after Klopp will be very complicated at Liverpool. Even though he seems ready to take on the challenge of his life, Stevie is also quite realistic about the whole ordeal.

Gerrard is not in a hurry to coach Liverpool

This is what Gerrard said: “I get asked this question a lot and, for me, what will be will be. Would I love to be the coach of Liverpool one day? Is it a dream? Of course. It’s a club that means everything to me but we’ve one of, if not the best, managers in the world who has been absolutely incredible since he came through the door. And the success he’s delivered in the last couple of years means that Liverpool are in a fantastic place. Long may that continue.

“The club have been absolutely amazing with me throughout my playing career, I still watch all of the games, my relationships are still very strong, I’ve still got ex-team-mates playing in the team and that’s where it is. There’s nothing else to really discuss on it. The people who say that… who knows? It’s very difficult to predict the future. Just because I was a good player for Liverpool and had the career I had there, doesn’t necessarily mean you’re next in line to be manager. You know and I know, if one day that job ever becomes available, there will be a queue a mile long, full of top-class managers. It doesn’t mean you’re the best person for the job.”
