Steven Gerrard got his name in the history of Scottish football, having equaled a 114-year-old Celtic record today.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is making a name for himself in the managerial world leading Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

The 40-year-old Englishman has just started his third season in charge of the Gers, hoping to finally put an end to Celtic’s domestic domination.

His Rangers side celebrated a 2-0 victory at Hamilton on Saturday afternoon, keeping their place on the top of the table after the opening six rounds.

It was their sixth consecutive clean sheet, as they are yet to concede a goal in the 2020-21 campaign.

With this game, Steven Gerrard and his boys become the first Scottish team in 114 years to open a top-flight season with six clean sheets in a row since a Celtic side led by Willie Maley in 1906.

Ianis Hagi in the 16th and James Tavernier four minutes later were the authors of the goals that secured the victory for the Light Blues.

The club’s best goalscorer in each of the last three campaigns Alfredo Morelos spent the whole game on the bench, after being left out in the 2-0 win over Kilmarnock last weekend.

Rangers’ improvement since Steven Gerrard was appointed in charge back in 2018 is more than evident, but the Gers are yet to lift their first trophy since 2011.

Will this finally be the lucky year for the blue part of Glasgow?
