Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour has been linked to Rangers of late, and manager Steven Gerrard has spoken on those speculations.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard insists the club have made no contact with Chelsea over a potential return to Ibrox for Billy Gilmour.

The teenager is edging back to full fitness following his return from a knee injury he picked up earlier this year.

Of late, reports have linked Gilmour with a return to Rangers and the growing thought was that the Scottish side could aim to secure the midfielder on loan in January. Those reports were further fueled by the fact that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admitted that they would consider options for the youngster.

After coming through the ranks at Ibrox, a return to his native Scotland has been put forward as a possible option for Gilmour.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard says he is a fan of the player but says no contact has been made in any way.

“There’s always a lot of paper talk, there’s always a lot of speculation about a lot of players,” Gerrard said as quoted by Sky Sports.

“From what I see from afar, I think Billy Gilmour is pretty settled at Chelsea. He has obviously had an injury. Every time I listen to Frank (Lampard) he’s really happy with the player.”

“He’s a fabulous little player but there’s been no contact between the clubs or the managers. I know Frank extremely well, I know his coaching staff extremely well, I think that’s just people putting two and two together and looking for stories.”

“There’s nothing in it from our side, but what I will say is he is a fabulous little player and we wish him well.”

Billy Gilmour himself says he is ready to fight for a place at Chelsea.
