Ace Football previews the Serie A match between Genoa and Juventus, and offers betting tips, odds, line-ups, and team news.

Juventus head to Genoa on Sunday evening intent on bagging back-to-back wins in the Serie A for the first time this season.

The unbeaten visitors currently sit outside the top-four in the standings on 20 points from 10 games. Victory is a must on Sunday to keep in touch with runaway leaders AC Milan, who sit six points ahead. Genoa, on the other hand, are in 19th-place on a mere six points from as many matches.

Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Douglas Costa were all on target to seal Juventus a 3-1 win in their last visit to the Luigi Ferraris back in June.

A similar result would be most welcome for Andrea Pirlo’s men, who hope to build on a resounding midweek Champions League win over Barcelona in a bid to get their Serie A title campaign back on the right track.

Genoa Form & Stats

Nikola Milenkovic’s injury-time equalizer for Fiorentina last weekend denied Genoa a second consecutive away victory and a crucial win over their relegation rivals. Therefore, they remain three points adrift of safety.

The club’s poor start to the season has left Rolando Maran under intense pressure. The manager needs a result amid speculation he could lose his job, having won just three of his 12 games (D3 L6) in all competitions.

Not helping matters is the poor form of last season’s top-scorer Goran Pandev, who has just a goal to his name this term. Plus, if Maran is still in charge of course, the Italian will then have to prepare for AC Milan three days after Juventus.

But it’s worth noting Genoa were 18th at this stage last season and still finished a respectable 12th in the standings.

Key Team Stats
  • Won just one of their last seven league games against Juventus (D1 L5).
  • Lost their last four home league games.
  • Conceded the first goal in their last three home league games.
  • Behind at half-time in their last three home league games.
  • Conceded at least two goals in their last four home league games.
  • Shown the first card in their last five games against Juventus.

Juventus Form & Stats

The Bianconeri’s dominance is under threat this season, having only won 50% of their 10 games (D5). They’ve also dropped points against the likes of Crotone, Hellas Verona, and Benevento.

But the fact Juventus remain unbeaten, along with a morale-boosting 3-0 Champions League win over Barcelona at Camp Nou, should leave them in a good place. It could prove a turning point in Pirlo’s reign.

The Juventus boss, however, warned his side to forget the Barcelona win in his pre-match conference. His aim now is to bring in some consistency, which is something that has been amiss for the club all season.

Alvaro Morata’s return from suspension, along with Ronaldo’s prolific form, leaves the Old Lady in good shape. Without CR7 especially, they’ve struggled to finish off teams in games this season.

Key Team Stats
  • Unbeaten in their 10 league games this season (W5).
  • Scored the first goal in four of their last five league games.
  • Scored before half-time in their last five away league games.
  • BTTS in seven of their 10 league games this season.
  • Exactly two goals in five of their 10 league games this season.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo has scored one goal in each of his three games against Genoa.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo is also set to make his 100th appearance for Juventus in all competitions.
  • A goal against Genoa would make Cristiano Ronaldo only the third Juventus player in history to score 30 Serie A goals in a calendar year.
