Gennaro Gattuso has hit out at those giving him stick over his coaching methodologies after his side jumped to third on Serie A standings.

Napoli narrowly edged out Bologna in their latest league outing, recording a 1-0 victory at the Stadio Dall’Ara on the weekend.

Victor Osimhen netted the sole goal connecting with Hirving Lozano’s cross to head the ball past Lukasz Skorupski at the 23rd minute.

It was Osimhen’s first goal in the Italian top-flight ever since completing a big-money move from Lille in the previous transfer market.

Bologna created several scoring opportunities in the second half but Napoli held on to their onto their first-half lead and returned to winning ways after a 2-0 home defeat to Sassuolo.

The Super Eagles jumped up to the third spot in the league table, just two points behind leaders AC Milan and one behind second-placed Sassuolo, after a third straight win away from home in Serie A.

“I don’t like this talk of Scudetto and us having to kill teams off easily. Calm down,” Gennaro Gattuso told Sky Sport Italia after the match.

“This is a team that needs to be kept on their toes and at times, we still have some off days.

“I don’t like what’s going on at the moment, there are too many people trying to teach me my job. People complained I didn’t play 4-2-3-1, then they want me to play 4-3-3. It’s my responsibility and I make the decisions.”
