The Welsh international Gareth Bale felt nostalgic as he returns for a one-year loan to Tottenham Hotspurs from Real Madrid.
The deal is done. The Wales international Gareth Bale returned to Tottenham Hotspurs after seven years. He had a broad smile during an interview with the club.
“I’m so happy to have this shirt on again,” he exclaimed. Subsequently, Bale received the number nine jersey for Spurs. He is on a one year loan from the La Liga winners Real Madrid.
The Welsh forward joined Tottenham in August 2007 and played against United for his debut. He made 203 appearances in the English league while scoring a total of 55 goals. Six years after, Bale was transferred to play for Los Blancos. Above all, his performance for the European giants in the Champions League is unforgettable.
Bale achieved plenty of trophies with Madrid. It included four Champions League and two La Liga titles. Although, many hoped that he would return to his English team sooner or later.
“It’s nice to be back!” he said. “This is such a special Club to me. It’s where I made my name. What an amazing Club, amazing fans, and it’s just incredible to be back. Hopefully, now I can get some match fitness, help the team and win trophies.
“I always thought when I did leave that one day I would love to come back, and the opportunity has now arisen. I feel like it’s a good fit, it’s a good time for me, I’m hungry, I’m motivated, I want to do well and can’t wait to get started.”
Spurs fans cannot forget the 30-yard screamer in the top bin vs Sunderland. This was during his last matches at the White Hart Lane back in May 2013.
The 31-year-old delightfully performed for his national team. He managed to take Wales to the semifinals of the Euro 2016. He has netted a sum of 33 goals in 85 appearances for his country.
Bale helped Real Madrid through the European tournament, both individually and as a team. His noteworthy goal in the Champions League against Liverpool is still one of the hottest topics for football fanatics.
Gareth left when he was 24. Now, as he returns to his old club, Spurs supporters are eager to watch his senior role.
He added: “I think by going to Madrid, winning trophies and going far with the national team, I feel like I have that winning mentality, how to win trophies.
“You don’t realize until you are there, in those situations, in finals, and knowing how to deal with those situations, the nerves, the pressure, and that all comes with experience.
“Hopefully, I’ll bring that to the dressing room, bring that belief that we can win a trophy, and the time to do that is this season, and not just one, to be fighting on every front possible. I want to bring that mentality back to Tottenham.
“Let’s enjoy ourselves along the way as well.”
