Former France and PSG midfielder Youri Djorkaeff has revealed Kylian Mbappe plans to claim European glory before leaving for a ‘big club’.

Mbappe is one of the most exciting young talents in Europe following his rapid rise to prominence since emerging at AS Monaco.

The 21-year-old is probably the most sought after youngster on the planet, with Real Madrid, among a host of top clubs, interested. And with his Paris Saint-Germain to expire in 2022, a tempting offer will likely arrive on the French side’s doorstep soon.

Having won every domestic honor in his native France, the prospect of a new challenge elsewhere may excite Mbappe.

But, on the back of losing his first-ever Champions League final to Bayern Munich last season, the striker still has some unfinished business to attend to first.

“I think that Mbappe will always have the right opportunity,” Djorkaeff told Parisfans.

“Now he’s on a project. He is entering his fourth year in Paris, he’s a young player. I don’t see him staying at PSG for 10 years.

“His future is to win titles on all continents, something few French people have done.

“Last year he had a great opportunity to win the Champions League. Unfortunately, he didn’t. This year he will still have the opportunity.

“The ideal [scenario] is that he wins it and then after he signs in a big club. Everyone will be happy.”

Although Djorkaeff conceded that Mbappe could leave PSG without winning the Champions League, even though he’ll regret it.

The 1998 World Cup winner added: “It will be a regret for him, but you can’t blame the failure of a club on a single player.

“Mbappe represents the club, but there are too many things that come into play. But it would be a regret for him.”
