France wonderkid Camavinga hails Pogba and Mbappe influence

Rennes sensation Eduardo Camavinga says he is inspired by countrymen Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe after getting his first national call-up.

Camavinga is looking to follow in the footsteps of Paul Pogba in national team colours.

The highly-rated 17-year-old is showing skill far above his age and was rewarded with a call-up to the France senior team. Les Blues will take on Sweden and Croatia in their upcoming Nations League matches.

Camavinga revealed he looks up to Paul Pogba who is one of the top stars in the French squad.

The Manchester United star played a key-role in their 2018 World Cup final and scored a goal in the finals against Croatia. The 27-year-old wiill be absent for France after recently testing positive for coronavirus.

Camavinga is humbled to be called up at such a young age and speaks on the influence Pogba and Mbappe have already made on him.

“I’m inspired by Paul Pogba,” Camavinga said via Goal

“He’s a very good player with great qualities. He proved it in the French team, just look what he did: world champion. But I don’t really like comparisons.”

“Kylian [Mbappe] has set the bar very high, but it’s a source of inspiration for all young players for sure,”

Camavinga admits he’s lucky to be get a call-up this early and calls it a dream come true.

“It’s a childhood dream, even though I’m still a child,” Camavinga said. “It would be fabulous for me, for my family [to start against Sweden or Croatia]. It was important to them that I represent my country, it was important for me too. It’s something I’ve wanted since I was a kid.”
