Two former Giallorossi stars reckon the club plan to sign CR7, with one of them suggesting a deal could be done before the end of next week.

AS Roma are trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United, according to ex-Giallorossi players Angelo Di Livio and Fabio Petruzzi.

Di Livio, who started his career at Roma in the 80s, has suggested his former club could announce a deal for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner on Thursday, July 7.

The date, of course, holds numerical significance. Ronaldo has used the number seven jersey for almost all of his career. The 37-year-old currently wears it for Manchester United and the Portuguese national team. He has also used it at Real Madrid and Juventus.

‘Roma are trying to get Ronaldo by all means’

Speaking on Retesport’s 1927 program, Di Livio and Petruzzi gave their verdicts on Ronaldo heading to the Eternal City.

“I know from various sources that Roma are trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo,” ex-midfielder Di Livio said.

“July 7 could be the date of the announcement. It’s a bit tactless, but the rumor has been circulating for a while in the football world. By chance, I spoke with a friend who works on television and who found out about the negotiations for Cristiano from an important club manager at a dinner a few days ago.”

Former defender Petruzzi agreed and added: “I have it on good authority, from a highly accredited person, that Roma are trying to get Cristiano Ronaldo by all means. Details will have to be ironed out, for image rights, but I know he will leave United.”

Di Livio and Petruzzi’s claims come after another round of speculation about Ronaldo’s future.

In this past week alone, media reports have linked CR7 with Bayern Munich, Inter Miami, Chelsea, and now Roma.
