Just four months after leaving Stoke City, John Mikel Obi is again a free agent.
John Mikel Obi has left Kuwait Sporting Club just four months into his spell in the Middle East.
The former Chelsea midfielder joined Kuwait SC in July on a free transfer after having his contract with English Championship club Stoke City, which still had another year left, terminated by mutual consent.
Mikel made two appearances for the Brigadiers in the AFC Cup but didn’t feature in any of the club’s Emir Cup or Federation Cup games.
Now, in a brief statement on social media on Thursday, Kuwait SC announced Mikel’s contract had ended. The club gave no reason for his sudden departure.

The former Nigeria captain is now searching for his sixth club in four years following spells with TJ Teda, Middlesbrough, Trabzonspor, Stoke, and Kuwait SC.
A return to England, where his family lives, could be a possibility for the 34-year-old.
