Lionel Messi wants to end his Camp Nou career in search of pastures new which is giving Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font nightmares.

Barcelona’s thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich was the culmination of a poor season. It prompted in a second managerial change at the club.

The fallout from Blaugrana’s Champions League exit has also clouded Lionel Messi’s stay in Catalonia. The Argentine reportedly wants an exit.

Josep Maria Bartomeu has quashed such rumors and new manager Ronald Koeman has Messi central in his plans. But the rumor mill is in overdrive with Manchester City and Inter Milan leading the race.

Victor Font will be contending for Barcelona’s presidential elections. Font does not envision La Pulga without Barcelona and even the thought of him leaving is giving him nightmares.

“I believe there’s a risk and it gives me nightmares. Messi is vital to this club, the most important player in its entire history and it’ll only grow after he retires,” Goal quoted Font.

“The relationship between Messi and Barca must continue after he’s hung up his boots. He should be the image of this club and its growth throughout the world.”

Font has Xavi’s support and would bring the former midfield general in the dugout if wins the elections next year. The Delta Partners CEO does not want to sack Koeman in such an eventuality and will find a new role for his services.

“I wish, and I mean this from my heart, Koeman and Barca win the treble,” Font added. “I’m sure that Xavi, at the head of this project, would find a place for Koeman’s talent too.”
