The Spanish and European champions have signed just two new players to their squad this summer.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has ruled the club out from making any further signings this summer.

The Champions League holders won their third trophy of 2022 by beating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday. David Alaba and Karim Benzema – who surpassed Raul as Madrid’s second highest scorer of all-time – scored the decisive goals in Helsinki, Finland.

The triumph represented an ideal start to the 2022/23 campaign. It left Perez satisfied enough to rule out signing a backup striker for Benzema, or anyone else for that matter.

“We don’t contemplate anything else,” he told Movistar after the match.

“Look at all the strikers we have. If he [Benzema] does [get injured] we have so many strikers that it won’t be noticed. Real Madrid is always home to the best players in the world. [Kylian] Mbappe is forgotten. A thing of the past. Nothing has happened. Real Madrid had a perfect season.”

Asked if he believes Benzema can win the Ballon d’Or, Perez added: “In my opinion, he already deserved it last year and this year more.”

Real Madrid have signed midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco for €80 million and defender Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer from Chelsea this summer.
