Real Madrid defeated Eintracht Frankfurt to win the UEFA Super Cup trophy at Helsinki Olympic Stadium. The Blancos go into the new season on the back of an easy victory over the Europa League winners.

Eintracht made a strong start to the game, making a few serious chances early on.
However, Real Madrid gradually took control of the possession, trying to make goalscoring opportunities down both flanks. Following a few missed chances, David Alaba converted Casemiro’s assist from close range to open the scoring for the Blancos.
Eintracht brought in Randal Kolo Muani and Mario Gotze to push for an equalizer early in the second period. However, their efforts faced Real Madrid’s solid backline while providing the Champions League winners with more space for surprise attacks.
Five minutes after the hour-mark, Karim Benzema sealed Real Madrid’s victory with a shot from inside the box. It wasn’t a powerful shot, and Benzema had targeted the centre of the goal. But Trapp’s poor reaction wasn’t enough to stop the ball from hitting the net.
Frankfurt tried to come into the game in the final ten minutes. But they barely made any chances as Real Madrid blocked their efforts with impressive defensive integrity.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will now prepare for their La Liga opener against Almeria on Monday.
