Barcelona and Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmati received FIFA’s The Best Women’s award on Monday evening in London.

The winners of the women’s award, like the men’s edition, were assessed by journalists, national team captains, and managers. Their votes were based on the players’ performances between December 19, 2022, and August 20, 2023, which coincided with the day of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup final.

Bonmati won the top award after an exceptional season. The 25-year-old helped Barcelona in Liga F, the Super Cup, and the Champions League. She then played a key role in Spain’s first-ever triumph in the Women’s World Cup last summer.

These exploits recently helped Bonmati win the World Cup Player of the Tournament, the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year, and the Ballon d’Or.

The other contenders for the award were Linda Caicedo (Real Madrid/Colombia) and Jenni Hermoso (Tigres UANL/Spain).
