With Chelsea on the prowl for a new striker, Ferdinand has urged the Blues to get their act together and sign a proven Premier League talent.

Rio Ferdinand has urged Chelsea to get a deal done for Sergio Aguero, especially if they cannot sign Erling Haaland.

Aguero will be available on a free transfer in the summer once his Manchester City contract expires. Several Premier League clubs have already been linked with moves along with La Liga giants Barcelona.

But Ferdinand believes the Argentine wants to continue in England and would serve as an ideal alternative for Haaland, who may reportedly cost over €100 million to sign from Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking about Aguero’s future on his ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE’ YouTube channel, the former defender said: “I think he stays in the Premier League.

“If I’m Chelsea, I take him now. If I’m Chelsea, I go and get him… quick!”

A new striker is said to be a top transfer priority for Chelsea this summer. The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Harry Kane, and, as previously mentioned, Haaland have been linked. However, Ferdinand stands by ‘Kun’.

The ex-Manchester United star added: “If I’m them [Chelsea], I go and get Aguero if I can’t get a Haaland or someone like that.”

Glenn Hoddle, meanwhile, thinks City’s all-time record scorer could end up at Stamford Bridge as well.

But, unlike Ferdinand, the former Chelsea player and manager has some doubts over the move.
