Ace Football previews the Champions League match between FC Barcelona and Dynamo Kyiv, and offers betting tips, odds, line-ups, and team news.

Barcelona welcome Dynamo Kyiv to Camp Nou on Wednesday night hoping to maintain their 100% record in the Champions League this season.

There were fears this match wouldn’t go ahead after most of the Dynamo Kyiv squad fell victim to positive COVID-19 tests. Only 13 players, in fact, traveled to Catalonia this week – the bare minimum required as per UEFA’s health protocols.

But no further positive cases have emerged from the Ukrainians’ camp. The Group G match, therefore, is all set to go ahead as Barcelona aim to steamroll their way to another emphatic win.

FC Barcelona Form & Stats

Ronald Koeman’s men head into their latest Champions League match on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw at Deportivo Alaves. Despite all their dominance, they came away with just a point. It’s left them down in 12th-place in the LaLiga standings and already nine points behind leaders Real Sociedad.

But while things on the domestic front go from bad to worse, Barcelona have begun their European campaign with back-to-back victories. A 5-1 thrashing of Ferencvaros was followed up by a 2-0 away win over Juventus; handing them a three-point on top of Group G.

And with Dynamo Kyiv having to contend with a heavily reshuffled side, the Blaugrana will be optimistic of another win. It will also extend their unbeaten run in the Champions League group stage to 23 games.

The return of goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen should give the hosts a welcome boost. While it will also be interesting to see if Koeman drops Sergio Busquets in favor of Miralem Pjanic again – as he did against Juventus.

Key Team Stats
  • 13 goals scored in their last four Champions League games.
  • Won four of their last five Champions League games against Dynamo Kyiv.
  • Undefeated in 21 of their last 23 Champions League games (W15 D6).

Dynamo Kyiv Form & Stats

Unlike Barcelona, Dynamo Kyiv have enjoyed a brilliant start to their domestic campaign by winning six of their opening eight games without a defeat (D2). It’s put them on top of the Ukrainian Premier League standings.

Things on the Champions League front, however, haven’t got off to a rosy start by any means. The visitors are winless in their opening two games, leaving them third in Group G on a mere point. If they hope to reach the knockouts, a result at Camp Nou is necessary.

Although Dynamo Kyiv have only beaten Barcelona three times in their last 10 meetings, with their last win dating back to the 1997/98 season.

Add the big reshuffle on manager Mircea Lucescu’s hands for his coronavirus-stricken squad, the visitors will have a tough time defying the odds on this one. Several key players are out, captain Sergiy Sydorchuk is suspended, and a teenage keeper in Ruslan Neshcheret is set to guard the goalposts against Lionel Messi and co.

Key Team Stats
  • Lost six of their last 10 meetings with Barcelona.
  • Scored two or more goals in five of their last six Champions League games.
  • Under 2.5 goals in their last five games in all competitions.

Team News

FC Barcelona: Philippe Coutinho & Samuel Umtiti (both out); Ronald Araujo (doubt).

Dynamo Kyiv: Heorhiy Tsitaishvili, Denys Harmash, Mikkel Duelund, Oleksandr Karavayev, Tudor Baluta, Mykola Shaparenko, Vitaliy Mykolenko, & Denys Boyko (All tested positive for COVID-19). Heorhiy Bushchan & Volodymyr Kostevych are injured, and Serhiy Sydorchuk is suspended.
