It’s the major news of the day at FC Barcelona, some major and historic institutional changes could be about to take place today.

FC Barcelona is currently going through some major institutional changes that could come into effect today or by next week at the latest. As we’ve been reporting to our readers, the vote of no confidence was approved at the beginning of October. The initial goal was to vote against president Josep Maria Bartomeu and get him out of the club’s presidency.

When the signatures were put together, the chairman attempted to sabotage it by accusing the motion’s validity in front of the Catalan Government. But his attempts were feeble, the Catalonia Generalitat president revealed to Bartomeu that the ‘No-Confidence Vote’ was moving forward.

This happened today and it had a ripple effect of epic proportions. As of right now, several media outlets in Spain are reporting that the Barça president might be about to resign along with all his board members. Bartomeu had one final move in order to delay the vote that didn’t work, but he still attempted to make it happen.

A letter to the Generalitat president.

The Barça chairman was quickly running out of options as the hours kept going by. He knew that his time was consumed quickly and he wanted to do everything in his power to delay this vote. As a hail mary move, Bartomeu sent a letter requesting the vote of no confidence to be suspended. He used the global pandemic as an excuse.

But the Generalitat president decided to ignore these requests and left Bartomeu with no more options. Jugones La Sexta is reporting that the Barcelona president could be hours away from presenting his resignation.

This would be a historic move that can finally get the club supporters what they wanted: Bartomeu out of the club and a chance for a reset on the club’s handling. If this resignation takes place, the news would be considered a win for all the club supporters who are against Bartomeu and his board.
