Let’s take a look at the player ratings of the FC Barcelona vs Ferencvaros Champions League match at Camp Nou Stadium.

FC Barcelona faced Ferencvaros on their return to the UEFA Champions League at Camp Nou. The Catalan club began its attempt to win another title as part of Group G next to Juventus and Dynamo Kyiv. Initially, Ronald Koeman decided to leave Antoine Griezmann on the bench in order to give Trincao a chance next to Messi and Ansu Fati. His decision was spot on.

The Portuguese youngster delivered a stellar first-half performance despite starting with a few wrong decisions at the beginning of the game. But the player to watch was Leo Messi, he reached Ryan Giggs’ record with a penalty he produced on his own. With this goal, he makes 16 consecutive seasons scoring goals in the competition. Right before half time, Ansu Fati scored his own goal after a beautiful assist from Frenkie de Jong. That was 2-0 before half-time, but we still had a long way to go.

Pique nearly spoiled Barcelona’s fun.

As the second half started, FC Barcelona started having fun with their front three and Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian midfielder came back at the highest level we’ve seen from him. He responded to Koeman’s trust with Barcelona’s third goal after a backheel assist from Ansu Fati. But the fun was nearly spoiled by Gerard Pique’s penalty and red card. Kharatin pulled one back for Ferencvaros with 20 minutes left on the clock.

Just minutes before Pique getting sent-off, Koeman decided to give some playing time to other players. Ousmane Dembele and Pedri responded with a goal each. The French winger proved he is one of the fastest players in the world with his second-half performance. A 5-1 result that gives Barcelona confidence ahead of a crucial week for them.
