Camp Nou opened its doors for this crucial La Liga match between FC Barcelona and Valencia. We have the player ratings of this game.

FC Barcelona was coming to tonight’s match against Valencia with a newly found confidence as they were willing to keep climbing in the Spanish La Liga. They were trying to find that balance in a seasons filled with contrasts due to the club’s many institutional problems. Before the half hour mark, FC Barcelona was dominating the ball but they lacked consistency on their attack.

This was a great aid for Valencia as they found a way to break the draw through a Diakhaby header. A momentary goal that only got to instill more resolve on the FC Barcelona attack led by Leo Messi. The Argentine got his chance to score the equalizer near the end of the first half through a penalty. However, Leo scored his goal after getting denied through a header. This was enough for him to reach Pele’s mythical goal-record with a single club.

Araujo and Gaya seal the draw.

Right after the second half started, Ronald Araujo got to score the second goal for FC Barcelona with a beautiful finish after a corner kick. This advantage wasn’t enough for the Catalan club to feel confident throughout the rest of the second half. Valencia never gave up and they finally got their efforts worth with a goal from Gaya near the end of the match.

With this 2-2 result, FC Barcelona keeps proving they are far from the team that can fight for trophies this season. Also, results like the one from tonight are the ones that tend to push Messi away from the squad. In a few day’s time, we will get to see him in an interview for La Sexta to discuss his future.
