Cesc Fabregas was challenged to assemble his perfect footballer and he had no doubts the answer was at Barcelona.

Currently undergoing his third season at Monaco, Cesc Fabregas has had a fantastic career. Naturally, he played alongside some of the best players of his generation. Therefore, deciding who has the best passing, shooting and defending skills isn’t the easiest task in the world.

“I would have the speed of Thierry Henry, the quality and intelligence of Messi, the heart of Carles Puyol or John Terry. The last pass, I don’t think I will change that for anyone, I would stick to mine, to be honest,” the midfielder confessed.

Nevertheless, all this discussion feels rather pointless for Fabregas, who believes that there’s one single footballer who excels all others. According to the Spanish midfielder, he was lucky to play alongside ‘perfect’ Lionel Messi for many years.

“From all the players that I played with? I don’t really need to pick many, I will pick Lionel Messi and you have the perfect footballer right there. I don’t have to go that far.

That’s the kind of player I look up to. I like to look at the very, very best and I was thankful always that God gave me the opportunity to play with the very, very best for many years.”

Cesc Fabregas and Lionel Messi played together at Barcelona from 2011 till 2014. The Spanish midfielder then decided to move to London once again to play for Chelsea. However, they were also teammates at La Masia, which means that Fabregas was there to witness the ‘flea’ take his first steps in football.
