Ten Hag’s efforts to maintain consistency with player performances haven’t been enough in the attacking department.

Anthony Martial has reportedly trained individually for the past month at Manchester United.

The Frenchman hasn’t made an appearance for the Red Devils since their 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth in December. Initially, United confirmed the player’s illness, but Martial’s recovery process was lengthier than expected.

According to Daily Mail, Erik ten Hag doesn’t believe the forward has fully recovered after his illness. Less playing time could convince the Frenchman, who is under contract until the next summer, to leave Old Trafford this month.

However, United’s personnel problems in the attacking line will most likely convince the club to keep their options open until the end of the campaign.

Ten Hag is eager to add a new striker to United’s ranks this January, with four players reported to be on his candidates list. However, few offers have arrived for Martial, who has scored twice in his 19 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions this season.

Martial is set to miss United’s upcoming FA Cup clash against Newport County. However, he could return in time for his side’s next Premier League game against Wolves four days later.
