The FC Barcelona defender has praised his new boss and compared him to Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique.

Eric Garcia has compared new Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez to the club’s legendary former managers Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique.

The 41-year-old has already made a positive impression on the squad, just 13 days after replacing Ronald Koeman. He has made several changes and Garcia has already noted the difference.

The defender, who worked under Guardiola at Manchester City and with Enrique at the Spanish national team, is certain that Barcelona have found the right man to lead them.

“In Xavi, I see things from Pep and also Luis Enrique,” Garcia told Diario Sport.

“He’s a club legend, and he’s a very good coach. His mentality hooks in the player a lot and the character it develops is very important.”

As for the rules Xavi has implemented at Camp Nou, Garcia added: “For me, they’re normal, I had them at City. You always need a little discipline.”

Xavi will make his debut as Barcelona manager on Saturday at home to Catalan rivals Espanyol in La Liga.
