After a temporary exit of a full-back, Gareth Southgate is stuck with another issue ahead of England’s clash vs Denmark.

Full-back Kieran Trippier will not play Wednesday’s fixture for England against Denmark.

The Atletico Madrid player left the team to attend a Football Association hearing. Apparently, he received a betting charge in May this year.

Subsequently, the FA mentioned that Trippier reported the leave for a personal reason.

Defensive issues.

Chelsea’s full-back Ben Chilwell will also not play in Wednesday’s clash because of a pre-existing injury.

The 23-year-old did not take part in any of England’s matches. Evidently, Chilwell broke COVID19 rules by attending a birthday party for Tammy Abraham last weekend.

Though, Gareth Southgate still owns a 28-man team for selection vs Denmark. However, his options for the left-wing position are now limited.

Chilwell’s original position is left-wing. Although, Trippier played on the left side for England against Belgium on Sunday.

Southgate said of Trippier’s withdrawal: “There is not a lot I can say about that really. It is not something that is in my control.

“I have got to focus on preparing the team with the players I have got available. We always find solutions. It is an opportunity for somebody else.

“If I lose focus on the job in hand – there are a million distractions, frankly – so this is another distraction, but it is something I have got to plow on through.”

Arsenal youngsters Bukayo Saka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are the two most predicted options for the left-back position.

Century upcoming.

On the other hand, Inter Milan midfielder Christian Ericksen will play his 100th game for Denmark at Wembley.

“It’s good to be back at Wembley and back in London,” he said. “To reach 100 in tomorrow’s game is impressive, in a weird way, because it’s something you only think about when you retire.

“You want to play the next game, and the next one. When I retire, I’ll look back – but at the moment it’s just about the next one.

“You play for Denmark because you are talented and because you work for it.”

England and Denmark featured in a goalless tie last month. However, the Danes beat Iceland 3-0 on Sunday.

Eriksen added: “We’ve come here with two wins in our last two games so we are confident we can get a result.

“We know England is a good team but we learned a lot from the first game against them and I hope we will take it to the next step.”
